What is an Ayurvedic Shampoo bar?
Ayurveda, originating in India over 5000 years ago, is one of the world’s oldest health care systems, utilizing a variety of native herbs.
Chiko was intrigued by its benefits, so she created her own recipes and incorporated them into solid soap as shampoo.
The following are the Ayurvedic herbs contained, each offering various benefits for the scalp and hair: Shikakai, Amla, Aritha, Neem, Tulsi, and Brahmi.
This Shampoo bar is formulated for dry scalp and hair.
Shikakai: An ancient hair growth-promoting cleanser, leaving hair soft, lustrous, and bouncy. It acts as a natural astringent, cleansing dirt from the scalp and strengthening hair roots with its rejuvenating properties.
Amla: Rich in vitamin C, it's often used to prevent hair loss and premature graying, promoting healthier-looking hair.
Aritha: Known as soapnuts, it's a natural cleanser providing gloss and bounce to hair.
Neem: With its antiseptic properties, Neem is effective against dandruff.
Tulsi: Improves blood circulation, keeping the scalp cool and reducing itchiness and dandruff, thus promoting hair growth.
Brahmi: Promotes hair growth and addresses dry scalp issues, including itchiness and dandruff.
Other Ingredients: Sunflower Oil, Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Citric Acid, Almond Milk, Sodium Hydroxide, Purified Water.
Essential Oil Blend: Lavender, Mandarin, Frankincense.
If you wash your long hair daily with this bar, it lasts at least 2 months, some users even report it lasting 4 months with daily use!
You can enjoy the soap when it's freshly made or let it age longer for a richer lather and longer-lasting use.
You might consider cutting the soap in half and storing the unused portion in a cool, dry place while you use the first half. It's an option, but not necessary.
